Sylvia Yunker Barnes' Obituary
Sylvia Yunker Barnes passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at her home in Covington, Louisiana. She was born on July 29, 1935, in Aydlett, North Carolina, to the late Gerald Frank Yunker and Lola Inez Gifford.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Perry Daniel Barnes Sr., her son, Perry Daniel Barnes Jr., sister Bonnie Cable, brothers Jeff Yunker, Henry Yunker and Jimmy Gifford. She is survived by her daughters, Brigette Moritz (Damon) and Melanie Barnes (Darryl). Sylvia was the proud grandmother of Shannon Moritz and Dakota Truax. Also survived by sisters Beverly Bush (Larry), Mary Walton (Bob), Cindy Mensching, Billie Orr (Lloyd), Judy Johnson (Reuben), Bernice Yunker (Tato), Florida Yunker, brothers Buzzy Gifford (Debby), Johnny Gifford (Sandy) and Gerald Yunker (Vivian). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Courtyard by Marriott, 101 Northpark Blvd in Covington, LA.
