Susan Blossman Pierce's Obituary
Susan Blossman Pierce passed away in the arms of her loving family on the evening of June 17th at her home after battling breast cancer. She was born in Madisonville on July 3rd, 1945, as the youngest child and only daughter of Alfred Rhody and Mabel Perrin Blossman with three older brothers, Alfred Rhody Jr (Fred), Richard Sampson (Dick), and Jack Arthur Blossman. She grew up in the heart of Covington on 23rd Avenue, and later moved to Covington Country Club Estates where she continued to reside, surrounded by family throughout her life. She graduated from SSA and attended LSU. Susan’s creative talents lead her to become an interior decorator. In 1971 she married the love of her life, Frederick Wesley (Wes) Pierce.
Sue and Wes were married for 51 years and 11 months before Wes passed away on January 3rd, 2023. Despite running her business, Susan B. Pierce Interiors, and serving on several executive boards, Sue would tell you she would only wish to be remembered as the devoted and loving wife and mother she was. Wes and Sue had four children, three daughters (Sean Perrin Pierce-Parker*deceased (Mark), Shane Pierce Glass (Melvin), Shannon Pierce Ober (James) and one son (Erin Pierce). They loved to travel with their family and spent years living abroad and traveling the world. They were a beautiful example to their children of marriage and a life well lived.
Sue and Wes were devote Catholics, and she believed sharing her faith with her children to be one of her most important privileges. Her faith and trust in God saw her through difficult times, such as the recent loss of Wes and the loss of Sean Perrin at the age of 27 to metastatic breast cancer. She was always grateful to God for the good times, and celebrated life whole heartedly. Even through her sufferings in life, she always showed a spark of joy.
Sue was incredibly generous and loved to spread joy. She would begin planning for Christmas mid-summer, and would devote a great deal of thought and effort to celebrating every occasion. She loved to dine and would spend hours with family and friends frequenting her favorite places. Sue celebrated life every day. She cared deeply for the comfort of others and would go out of her way to ensure the happiness of those around her.
Sue was lovingly referred to as “Mimi” by her grandchildren (Austin Ober, Hannah Ober Shrestha (Shiva), Lily Ober, Molly Ober, Emma Ober, Maren Glass, Kathlyn Glass, Laurelyn Glass, Brenynn Glass, Patrick Pierce, Liam Pierce), and her great grandchildren (Agni Shrestha and Aayan Shrestha), who she loved to spoil. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived in life by her brothers (Fred, Dick, and Jack), her children (Shane, Shannon, and Erin), as well as all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Sue requested you please consider donating to St Joseph Abbey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, Saint Benedict, LA 70457 on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 1:30 PM with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.
