Stephen Anees Mogabgab's Obituary
Stephen Anees Mogabgab died on Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Louisiana Medical Center Heart Hospital at the age of 58. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 8, 1949 as the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anees Mogabgab, Jr. Married to his beloved wife, Annette Jones Mogabgab for over 35 years, Steve was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Mogabgab was a graduate of Sam Barthe School for Boys, Metairie Park Country Day School, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Tulane University, and finally earned his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University Law School. He served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps for 8.5 years with the final ranking of Major. Serving in the United States and Germany, his duties included Chief of Military Justice, Chief of Legal Assistance, Chief of Criminal Defense, acting Staff Judge Advocate of a Division and Military Trial Judge. He was on the Board of Directors of Hulse and Wanek for 16 years and was Of Counsel for Huval, Veazey, Felder and Aertker as well as acting as an Assistant District Attorney for the 22nd Judicial District at the time of his passing.
Mr. Mogabgab was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court as well as being a member of the Louisiana State Bar Assn., American Bar Assn., the Greater Covington Bar Assn., as well as the Bar association of the Fifth Federal Circuit. He served as Chairman of the Associates Council for both the St. Tammany and Louisiana Home Builders Association, was a founding Trustee for the St. Tammany Home Builders Charitable Trust, as well as being the past President of the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation. Mr. Mogabgab was also awarded the St. Louis Medallion for his service to the Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife Annette, son Jason P. Mogabgab, daughter Eva Snapp and her husband Jeffrey. His surviving Grandchildren are Stephen Clay Mogabgab and Eva Sloane Snapp. He is also survived by his brother Paul Mogabgab and his wife Toby, his sister Janet Magee and her husband James and sister Judy Tyrl. He will be missed by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home at 5 p.m. in Covington, La. On Thursday November 1, 2007. Visitation will preceed the service from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and a celebration of his life will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the charity of your choice.
