Soraya Jackson Picou's Obituary
Soraya Jackson Picou of Hammond, Louisiana passed away peacefully, at the age of 62, while surrounded by her family on June 14, 2023.
Soraya was born on August 06, 1960, to Ursula Flecken Jackson and the late Donald Astor Jackson. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Picou, Jr., together for 34 wonderful years. She is the loving and devoted mother of Lindsay Thea Picou, Thomas Picou III (Melanie) and Todd Picou (Britni). She is the adoring grandmother of Sophia, Brody, Aubry, Blaine, Tucker, Addison and Cailin. Soraya is the beloved sister of Donald Ernest Jackson (Annie), Phyllis Armstrong (Norman) and Jay Kirchstein (Chancey). She is the cherished niece of Margret (Joe), Adolf (Lucinda), Joan, Glenda, Carol (Bill) and best friend to Sharon Reiser.
Soraya was raised in Marrero, Louisiana and was a 1979 graduate of Immaculata High School. She worked in the office of her father’s remodeling business in her early adulthood and then married the love of her life Tommy on December 09, 1989. They became life-long residents of Hammond, Louisiana where they nurtured their family and enjoyed their property.
In addition to her family named above, Soraya was a dedicated pet mom to Rascal, JJ, and Maggie.
Soraya enjoyed camping and had a passion for taking cruises, as often as possible, with her family and friends. She was a genuine, caring person with a kind soul who made friends easily. She touched many lives and will be truly missed by everyone who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held by her family at a later date.
