Sidney Ray Riddle's Obituary
On Saturday, August 22, 2015, Sidney Ray Riddle passed away at the age of 75 after a six year fight involving cancer and a stroke. He attended high school in Opelousas, Louisiana and went on to receive a degree in design from USL. He served 8 years in the Louisiana National Guard. He enjoyed a thirty-six year business career in design and sales of architectural products. Sid enjoyed a special appreciation for things of beauty, whether created by God’s design or made by man. He began his career in New Orleans and lived there until 1987 when he and his family moved to Covington, Louisiana. After Hurricane Katrina he retired in 2005 and he and his wife lived in Lafayette, Louisiana for five years. They returned to live in Covington in 2010 and was a resident of Tchefuncta Club Estates.
Sid was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Clifford Riddle and his step-mother Anne Riddle. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marjorie; his daughter Adrienne Rodrigue (Kevin) of Covington, LA; his sisters Annette Parker (Don) of Bandera, Texas; Marsha Elmore of Opelousas, Louisiana; his grandchildren Carson and Claire Rodrigue and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family would like to especially thank his hospice nurse, Whitney Tranchina, as well as Mary Marti, Craig Pierce, Stephen Bryant and all of the hospice staff for their special care and support during his final months.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to service time. A time of remembrance will follow at Tchefuncta Country Club.
