Shirley Sue Batts Collins' Obituary
Shirley Sue Batts Collins, age 76, was escorted into Heaven on Monday, October 24, 2022, at 12:05 AM in Covington, Louisiana. She was born July 9, 1946, to Dennis and Nellie Tolbert Batts.
Sue’s life was complete by her love for God and her family. She was surrounded by their love and from many friends.
Sue loved to cook special dishes for her friends and family, especially fried chicken and seafood. In addition to being an excellent chef, she loved to read and cross-stitch.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Bartley Joe (B.J.) Batts and John Stanislaus (Rusty) Batts.
Sue is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Charles L. Collins; two sons, Bryan Ashley Collins and Charles Hubert Collins; five grandchildren, Benjamin Charles Collins, Zachary Pietro Collins, Elijah Hugh Collins, Mary Grace Collins and Charles H. Collins II; and two great-grandchildren, Cole Benjamin Collins and Ayden Hugh Daenen. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Dennis Batts and wife Sue; and her sisters, Darlene Batts Burt and husband Billy Ray, Jimmie Nell Biondo and Margaret (Maggie) Madrid. Also honoring Sue’s memory are Silvana Montagnino Collins, brother in laws, Hugh M. Collins and wife Eileen and John R. Collins and wife Susan, along with nieces, nephews and many friends.
Pall bearers who are selected to handle with exceptional care and dignity for Shirley are: Benjamin Charles Collins, Zachary Pietro Collins, Elijah Hugh Collins, Bryan Ashley Collins, Charles Hubert Collins and Charles H. Collins, II.
The family would like to express their appreciation and love for the special care given to Sue by the staff of Key Home Health Care, PAM Specialty Hospital and St. Tammany Hospital Hospice during the past two years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Monday, October 31, 2022, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will take place in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, LA 70460 on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 9:00 AM.
