Shirley Ellis Christian's Obituary
Shirley Ellis McMullen Christian passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. She was born in Charlotte, NC on November 7, 1934.
She is survived by her loving children, Cecil McMullen Jr, Cynthia McMullen Werner (Robert), Steve McMullen (Bernardina), Wanda McMullen Evers (partner David Atkinson), Keith McMullen (Clair) and her two stepsons John Christian and Chris Christian (Vivian); her 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert G. Christian; former husband Cecil P. McMullen Sr; her parents Blanche Ballard Ellis and Paul J. Ellis; siblings, Joyce Miller and James Ellis; and grandsons Travis McMullen and Jeffory Cubicke.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She retired as a Bank Teller from Central Bank in Daphne, Alabama and later moved to Abita Springs, Louisiana where she spent her time surrounded with family and friends. She enjoyed family meals and holidays together, along with watching as much Atlanta Braves baseball as she could. Another major passion she possessed was getting together with friends to play cards. She was an avid player that took her game and wins very seriously.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the care provided by the staff on ICU, 2 East and Hospice of St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Christian be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital www.stjude.org and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
