Sheron FitzSimons Conklin's Obituary
Sheron FitzSimons Conklin departed this world in the presence of family and friends on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents Aline and Francis, and her mother-in-law June. She is survived by her daughter Sari, brothers Philip and Dale, sister and dear friend Barbara, and beloved dog Butterbean and cat Annie.
Born in Baton Rouge, LA in July of 1947, Sheron had a lifelong special talent for seeing and bringing out the very best in everyone she encountered. With a generous and selfless spirit, she regularly contributed to her community, including a career of service working for Catholic Charities. In all her pursuits, Sheron found beauty and gratitude in things big and small. She took a particular interest in watercolor painting, pottery, sewing, and reading, and shared her love of nature and passion for gardening with fellow members of the Covington Garden Club and North Shore Camelia Club.
Sheron will be sorely missed. Thoughtful and contemplative on all matters spiritual, may she delight in finally getting the answers to her questions, and may she rest in peace.
In lieu of a funeral service, relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Sheron’s life, tentatively to be held on Saturday, June 15 in Covington, LA. Please contact the family for details, which will be established soon. In the meantime, those wanting to make a contribution in honor of Sheron’s memory are requested to make a donation to Second Harvest Food Bank, 700 Edwards Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70123, 504-734-1322 or https://no-hunger.org/.
