Shelby Eugene Russ' Obituary
Shelby Eugene “Gene” Russ passed away on Friday, September 19, 2008. He was born February 25, 1932 in Wilmington, NC to the late Shelby and Thelma Rogers Russ, was a resident of New Orleans for 23 years and both Mandeville and Orange Beach, AL for the past 15 years.
The beloved husband of Lucile Barden Russ, he is survived by one daughter, Lugene Russ Naparalla; his son, Shelby E. Russ, Jr.; son-in-law, Chuck Naparalla; daughter-in-law, Susan Chaytor Russ and five grandchildren: Caroline E., Shelby E., III and Zachary W. Russ, Grace C. and Claire E. Naparalla.
Upon graduation from East Carolina University in 1954, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force serving as a pilot. He began his professional career in Wilmington, NC with the Remington Rand Company. This career took him to corporate executive positions in New York, NY and Marietta, OH. He moved to New Orleans in 1970 serving as Regional Manager for Remington Rand. In 1976, he started aos/Associated Office Systems which is still based in New Orleans.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM from New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4375 Highway 22, Mandeville, LA 70471.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
An open reception at the church will immediately follow funeral services.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Covenant Presbyterian Church.
