Scott Edward Penton's Obituary
Scott Edward Penton was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana in the fall of 1972 and died in Gulf Shores, Alabama in the winter of 2025, at the age of 52. He grew up with a deep appreciation for nature and often used it as a source of fun and comfort. He loved his family, fishing, hunting, hiking, gardening and any adventure. He was most at peace in nature or in the kitchen. His love for the outdoors was matched by his unexpected passion for baking bread-a craft he took up in his forties and quickly mastered. He often swapped his camouflage for an apron serving his friends and family bread from fresh milled flour, a charcuterie board filled with fresh fruit, meats and cheeses or his amazing gumbo. He was a collector of recipe books that filled him with the cuisine and culture of many countries, mainly Italian which was deeply rooted in his heritage. Cooking wasn’t just a skill it was a way of expressing his love for his family and friends. Scott was a man filled with kindness and generosity always eager to share a comforting word, a hug, a pat on the back or a high five with anyone. He was outgoing and never met a stranger.
He was blessed with wonderful parents who he adored. His father Kenneth Penton worked for St. Tammany Parish School Board and was a reserve deputy for St Tammany Parish, and his mother Marie, has been a hairdresser for 56 years.
Scott built his own path, building a long career in the construction industry as a Senior Project Executive. He could build just about anything and many of the projects he managed included hospitals, hotels, convention centers, transit systems and more. In his personal life he took pride in building his own homes, crafting spaces filled with warmth and character.
Some of his happiest moments involved doing anything with his children, Maleigh, Cassidy or Brayden and it was extra special if they were all together. Some of his proudest moments were serving others and it usually involved food. He loved volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House cooking and serving a hot meal to families in need.
He was a fierce protector and was always rooting for the underdog. His sensitive heart guided him through life, making him a source of comfort, understanding and support for many.
Scott is survived by his mother Marie Deluca Penton, his wife Ashley Richerand Penton, his children Maleigh Penton (Brandon Ballard) (mother-Jessica Gilliam), Cassidy Baudean (Stephen) (mother-Jessica Gilliam) and Brayden Penton (mother-Faith Jobe), his stepchildren Cohl Belanger, Nicolette Belanger and Brienne Belanger, his granddaughter Dakota Ballard, his brother Steven Penton (Tina), nephew Slayton, nieces Madison and Maison, his brother Kenneth Jeffrey Penton (Angie), nieces Sandra and Heather and nephews Kenny & Eric and many other relatives and friends.
He is predeceased by his sister Sharon Penton, his father Kenneth Penton, his grandmother Matilde Hunt Penton, grandfather Kenzie Penton, grandmother Lena Cacchioli Deluca and Carmel Morris Deluca.
A scripture that brought Scott comfort was Revelation 21:3, 4-With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433 on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM with visitation on day beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
