Sandra fought ALS for the past 15 years, but due to her strength, determination, family, caregivers, and Dr. Surendra Purohit, she never succumbed to ALS. It was the rare Merkel Cell skin cancer that called her home.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 60 years, John William Masters, Sr.; children, Samantha Masters Moley (Ronnie) and John William Masters, Jr. (Ladette); brother, Edward Jean “EJ” David (Joyce); sister, June David Brister; and grandchildren, Dante Moley, Sabrina Moley, Karlie Masters and Kelsie Gassen.
Sandra was a lifelong resident of Mandeville, LA. She graduated from Mandeville High School and then from Moler Beauty College in Hammond, LA. She owned her own beauty salon in Mandeville for many years. Sandra was a member of the Mandeville Boating Auxiliary Association, Krewe of Eve and Mandeville Garden Club. She also enjoyed being a softball coach for Fourth Ward Recreation.
Sandra was family oriented, loving, kind, humble, caring, and loyal. Her true passion was being outdoors fishing, shrimping, hunting and spending time at the family fishing camp. Sandra also loved bingo and Mardi Gras. She reigned as Queen and served on the court for several years for the Mandeville Boating Auxiliary Association. She was unique, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank Ochsner Home Health, Dr. Surendra Purohit and his staff, staff at Lakeview Hospital and the PALS and CALS of her ALS family for all of their love and support over the years.
Private services were held by the family. Interment was in Garden of Pines Mausoleum, 1400 N Columbia Street, Covington, LA 70433.
