Sandra Lynn Tompkins Burke, born September 17, 1949, in Port Sulphur, Louisiana to Linn & Lois (Freeman) Tompkins, passed on peacefully heavenward into glory with Christ on 10/24/2025 in Covington, La. Preceded by her loving and steadfast parents Linn & Lois Tompkins, and her brother Robert David Tompkins. Sandy, as she was known, grew up in Plaquemines Parish Louisiana and graduated from Buras High School in 1967. After working briefly for Freeport/Sulphur, her adventurous spirit led her to Alaska, Connecticut and Bahrain in the early days of her career. She settled in Covington where she sold Avon for over 40 years. She loved meeting new people and had the gift of hospitality that would welcome anyone. Her cooking was like a warm hug, and she had a gumbo that would rival any award winners. In her later years you could usually find her dining out for lunch in downtown Covington. She had a generous heart and lots of beloved friendships that stood the test of time. Having grown up in the Baptist church as young girl, Sandy made her faith her own when she was baptized at the age of 30 at Calvary Baptist Church in Kenner, La. This milestone marker carried her through the years knowing her Hope was secure in the salvation and freedom offered by her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member for the last 25 years at Northshore Bible Church in Covington, La.
