Sam “The Man” Eugene Sims, Sr., passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012. Beloved husband of V. Elaine Cornelius-Sims. Father of Samuel Eugene Sims, Jr. and Taishi Stamps and husband Urick. Grandfather of Sydnee Elizabeth Sims and Madison Stamps. Step-brother of Carrie Bell. Son of the late Willie and Marie West. Brother-in-law of Adrian McDonald and husband Lorenzo, Monique Dominick and husband Robert, Samuel Cornelius and Raynord Cornelius and wife Beth. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Age 61 years. A native of New Orleans, LA, a former resident of Lacombe and a resident of Madisonville, LA for the past 8 years. He was an employee of Entergy Corporation for 39 years and an US Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was an avid lover of Bingo.
Relatives, his Entergy family and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at First Baptist Church, 16333 Hwy 1085, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the American Diabetes Association.
