Salvador "Sal" Anthony DiMaggio Jr's Obituary
Salvador “Sal” Anthony DiMaggio Jr., age 62 of Folsom, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday afternoon, May 26, 2022, surrounded by his adoring family.
Born in Independence, Louisiana, on October 1, 1959, to Salvador “Sam” Anthony DiMaggio Sr. and Elaine Murphy DiMaggio, Sal lived a life that would be the envy of many: one rich in love and laughter.
Sal is survived by his faithful wife of 37 years, Cathy Manchester DiMaggio, their children Samantha Doyle (Brett) and Tony DiMaggio, and grandchildren Hayden Doyle, Maci Doyle and Presley DiMaggio. He is also survived by his sister Rose Arceneaux (Gary), brother-in law Jeff Manchester (Sharon), sisters-in law Lora Smith and Judy Wilson, and nieces and nephews. His family was the light and pride of his life.
Sal is preceded in death by his parents Elaine and Sam DiMaggio and in-laws TJ and Mildred Manchester.
Sal had a successful career with John Deere from 1976-1991. In 1990, he began driving a school bus for the St. Tammany Parish School System, safely transporting children charged to his care until his retirement in 2019.
Sal was a loving, compassionate, and most of all, very caring person to everyone he knew. A true southern outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and cook. However, his true passion was spending time with his family that he loved so dearly. Sal was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His jovial spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.
All relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Bogue Falaya Baptist Church, 78689 Highway 25, Folsom, Louisiana, on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 9:30 AM with the service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Bogue Falaya Cemetery.
