Sally Whelan Thomson's Obituary
Sally Whelan Thomson passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010. She was born June 25, 1928 in Wheeling, WV to the late Raymond J. and Caroline Nolte Whelan and has been a resident of Mandeville since 1973. The beloved wife of Dr. Alan F. Thomson, she is survived by two daughters, Maris T. Tyson (Michael) and Jude T. Galloway; three sons: Michael A., John J. (Cheryl) and James M. Thomson; her sister, Mary Ellen Weipper, one brother, Jude Whelan; three granddaughters: Britton Thomson Cook (Scott), Laine C. Thomson and Lily M. Tyson and two great grandchildren, Schroeder A. and Loxley L. Cook. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher F. Thomson and one brother, James Whelan.
A dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Sally was a selfless woman of great faith and a loving caregiver to her family. She also loved gardening and sailing. Until recently, she was a long time member of the Mandeville Yacht Club.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial mass at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville, LA 70448.
Visitation at the church will begin at 10:00 AM.
Interment at the Mandeville Cemetery will immediately follow mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Covington Food Bank, 840 N. Columbia St., Covington, LA 70433.
