“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”
There is a time to be born and a time to depart, Russell Wilfred Wilcox, Jr. was born to Russell and Katie Frazier Wilcox on April 4, 1953 in New Orleans, LA. He departed his life on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at his residence in Covington, LA. He was educated during his primary life at Covington Rosenwald High School, Pine View High and Covington High School.
Russell took to various types of jobs from: mechanic, fishing boat, butcher for Thompson Packing Company, butcher and truck driver for Crawford Slaughterhouse, and recently worked for almost 18 years with St Paul School in the physical plant until his heart condition. Russell was outgoing, fun loving, outspoken, and a storyteller of all his great classic cars and motorcycles he had during his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Wilfred Wilcox, Sr., and his granddaughter, Kaileigh K. Wilcox.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Sharon Sheridan Wilcox, his daughter, Serena Wilcox-Harriel (Shantiz) of Whitlier, CA., his son, Russell Wilfred Wilcox, III(Kyashia) of Lacombe, LA and his 3 grandchildren, Shanelle Harriel, Riley K. Wilcox, and Russell Wilfred Wilcox, IV “R4”. He also leaves to cherish his memories is his mother, Katie Wilcox of Abita Springs, LA, sisters in law, Marilyn Young (Tyree), Arleen S. Thomas and his brother-in-law, Benjamin Sheridan (Brenda), as well as godsons, Harold Ramsey, Jr., Ethan Casmere and his goddaughter Natasha Thomas. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, ten adopted grandchildren and extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 4:00 pm at E J Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA and the visitation will begin at 2:00 pm until service time. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery in Covington, LA.
