Russell Earl Varvel's Obituary
Russell Earl Varvel passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 5, 1945.
He is survived by his loving wife Valerie Jane Hamilton Varvel of 59 years; his daughter, Carla Barthe (Ernie); his granddaughter, Taylor Barthe. He is also survived by beloved in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents Mary Jane Ingle Varvel and Russell R. Varvel.
He was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and a resident of the northshore since 1985. He was a U.S. Army veteran 1963-1967. Mr. Varvel was Vice President of Marketing and Sales for the Delta Queen Steamboat Company. He was an avid fisherman and reader. He enjoyed gardening, travelling, animals and going to the casino.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the care provided by Hospice of St. Tammany Parish Hospital.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens will be private.
