Russell James Constantine Sr.'s Obituary
Russell James Constantine, Sr. age 84, of Covington, La passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born in New Orleans.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Connie Clause Knieper, stepdaughter, Cherie Knieper Cody (Charles), step-grandchildren Patrick and Matthew Cody, Caleb Knieper, Caitlin Knieper Voebel (Luke), step-great grandchildren Luke, Peyton, Grace and Graham Voebel. Although these were his stepfamily members Russell considered them his family.
He is also survived by his children from his first marriage Vicky Carney (John) and Rusty Constantine. Grandchildren: Tom (Samantha), Sean and Jay Carney and Lillian and Sophie Constantine. Great grandchildren Adelynn, JJ, Jackson and Charlotte Carney.
He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife Phyllis Clause Constantine, his parents Mary Lue Beaugh Constantine and Charles Constantine Sr., stepdaughter Charlene Knieper, his siblings Charles, Robert “Bob”, John, Ray Keith, Margaret Richards, Lee Bergeron and Shirley Ledet. Father and mother-in-law Wilbert Adam Clause, Sr. and Anna Mae (Hadley) Clause.
He was also preceded in death by sisters- in-law Carol Clause, Joann Clause Clark and Thias Constantine, brothers-in-law Freddie Clark, PJ Clause, Garland Nevels, and David Ledet.
He is survived by sisters Rena Nevels, and Ella Ryan. He is also survived by his brother’s-in-law Wilbert Clause Jr, Joe Richards, Ray Bergeron, Rod Ryan and sister’s- in-law Donna Clause, Marie, Brenda, and Sandra Constantine. Russell also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Russel served as a Boy Scout leader for many years and worked as a diesel mechanic until he retired. Russell loved gathering with family and friends for any reason at all. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, playing cards and games and going out to eat. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play football, baseball and gaming. He later enjoyed square dancing with his wife Connie with the Ozones Squares Club. Russell especially loved driving to travel around the United States with both his first and second wife.
Russell will be missed by all but especially by his wife Connie. Per Russell’s wishes, a very small, private memorial was held after which Russell was laid to rest.
