Roy Joseph Shubert Jr. (R.J.), 91, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family in Covington, Louisiana. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Virgie Mae Darcey Shubert. A loving father to and survived by Roy Joseph Shubert III (the late Sandra), Kathleen S. Brown (Melvin), Linda Shubert, and Diane S. Cox (David); proud grandfather of Angela B. Collins (Charles), Roy Joseph Shubert IV (Chrystie), Davina C. Ordoyne (Elwin), Patricia C. Gill (Sean), Latoya R. Montgomery (Jonathan), Elizabeth B. Green (Daniel), and Emily B. Kelly (Brandon); great-grandfather of Alyssa, Darcey, Lauren, Stephen, Charley, Kennedy, Aydan, Neason, Braden, McKenna, Kaylee and Liliana, great great-grandfather of Brayson and Bowen. He was born on July 5, 1926 to the late Roy Joseph Shubert Sr. and Laura Josephine Dettwiller Shubert. Loving brother to the late Lloyd Shubert and Georgette Shubert Raymond. Roy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Roy worked as Superintendent at Baroid before retiring to fulfill his dream of being a farmer, always tending to his beloved hobbies of raising cattle, race horses and bailing hay on Shady Oaks Farm. Relatives and friends are invited to the Liturgy of the Word at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana 70433, on Saturday, February 3, 2018, with Visitation from 11am-12pm for family and from 12pm until 2pm for family and friends.
