Rosalie Adele Fleming Carlson's Obituary
Rosalie F. Carlson died November 19, 2008. She was born May 17, 1915 in Council Bluffs, IA and lived in Omaha, NE and St. Louis, MO throughout her childhood. She moved to New Orleans, LA in 1938 where she met her husband Bertil G. Carlson. They married on September 8, 1939 in Waverly, TN. They soon moved to Abbeville, LA where she lived until 1998. Rosalie then moved to Covington, LA where she lived at Christwood Retirement Community until she passed on. Mrs. Carlson is preceded in death by her parents Paul S. Fleming and Chloe H. Fleming, her husband Bert, and her sister Ann Price. Rosalie is survived by her two children Lynda C. Ward (Dallas) of Folsom, LA and David B. Carlson (Marna Wellbrock) of New Iberia, LA; her four grandchildren Leslie Ward of Houston, TX; Mary Lee Doughton (E. Jones) of Columbus, GA; Amy Carlson of Baton Rouge, LA; and Timothy Carlson of Lafayette, LA; and one great grandchild Bennett Doughton of Columbus, GA.
Rosalie was an accomplished seamstress and gardener, and an avid reader. She was active in Abbeville area civic organizations for many years. Mrs. Carlson was a long time member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday November 29 at 10:30 AM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 77043.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home starting at 9:30 AM until the service.
Graveside services will be held at the Graceland Cemetery in Abbeville, LA on Saturday December 6, 2008 at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West, 1400 North Lane, Mandeville, LA 70471 (www.habitatstw.org) in memory of Mrs. Carlson.
