I have quite fond memories of Ron. My wife and I moved to Baton Rouge in 1977. Ron was Cargill Grain's branch manager and he and Molly made us feel so welcome. They set a wonderful example to have an office get together at their home whenever someone new was moving into the office or transferring out.
We too transferred away in 1980 and I lost touch but never forgot their kindness and Ron's support of me. Just last year I did a search to see if I could find where he was currently living. I wrote down the address but am very sad to say I never sat down to write a letter saying hi and thanking him for all his help.
I distinctly remember one conversation with Ron. He and his family had moved from Minnetonka, Minnesota. I mentioned how I loved the low taxes in Louisiana. We had no kids at the time. His reply was, well in Minnesota we paid X for property taxes on our home and our two kids went to public school. Here we have sent our kids to private school at cost 3x!!
Rest in peace and thanks for all your kindness.
