Romaine Plauche Guilbeau, age 85, of Folsom, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, surrounded by cherished memories and abiding love. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Romaine lived a life bursting with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
Born on November 19, 1939, to Stewart and Lou Plauche, Romaine was a spirited soul from the very beginning. Whether she was off on an adventure with the love of her life, Richard, or simply soaking up the sunshine outdoors, she brought joy wherever she went. For 65 years, she and Richard built a life filled with love, laughter, and just the right amount of spunk. Together, they traveled far and wide—never missing a chance to explore the world or make new memories with the people they loved.
Romaine had a way of making everyone feel like family. She was known for giving a hug, a kiss, and a bite—a saying that summed up her generous heart, her loving spirit, and her knack for sharing life’s sweetness with those around her. She cherished the little things in life, finding joy in simple moments that made each day meaningful. She was the heart of her family, and her legacy lives on in each life she touched.
She is survived by her devoted children: Monica Guilbeau Davis (Danny), Alan Guilbeau, Sr. (Kelly), and Derek Guilbeau (Alicia). Her pride and joy were her seven grandchildren: Erin Davis (Daniel), Danny Davis Jr. (Brittany), Leighann Guilbeau (Steve), Michelle Davis Van Horn (Richard), Alan Guilbeau Jr. (Alana), Michael Guilbeau (Hailey), and Kaitlyn Guilbeau (Adam), as well as her thirteen cherished great-grandchildren: Carleigh, Corinne, Averie, Jace, Allison, Brendon, Dax, Davis, James, Alivia, Jaxon, Greer, and Bode.
Romaine is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Marion Shally (Ronnie), Eric Plauche (Linda), and Steve Plauche (Sandra).
She now reunites in peace with her beloved husband, Richard Guilbeau; her dear parents, Stewart and Lou Plauche; and her brother, Larry Plauche.
To know Romaine was to be loved by her. She lived her life in full color, embracing every moment with fierce love and a tender heart. Her home was always open, her arms always warm, and her spirit endlessly generous. She leaves behind a family rich in love and countless friends whose lives are brighter for having known her.
Romaine's life will be celebrated in the way she lived—with love, laughter, and stories shared under the sun.
She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished.
Services will be held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, on Sunday, August 31, 2025. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a time of remembrance, rosary, and eulogy from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.; the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow immediately afterwards at the adjacent Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
