Roger Lyn Baldwin's Obituary
After a hard-fought and brave battle with illness, Roger found eternal peace in the arms of the Lord on Sunday, January 14th. He was surrounded by the most devoted members of his fan club: his girls.
In life, Roger had a gentle manner, a listening ear, he was generous with his bear hugs and his best smiles were the twinkly-eyed ones. He REALLY LISTENED …as in stopped-whatever-he-was-doing-to-give-his-full-attention listening. The customer service position from which he retired was perfect for his personality. To those who relied on his expertise, he conveyed confidence, competence, but never condescension. And he was usually the coolest, most “chill” person in the room.
He loved his girls, trips with the grandkids, riding his motorcycle and watching cooking and fishing shows. As his “get up and go got up and went”, he grew fond of watching adventure shows like Mountain Men and Forged in Fire. After making plans with his wife, Jo, to move back to Louisiana where their love story began, he watched Dat Louisiana Life and dreamed of the fishing he intended to do.
Roger’s life was cut short, but as someone who knew and loved him reflected “Only the most fortunate in this life find their soul’s true counterpart. For Roger, this was Johanna.” He called her “Darlin” in his Texas drawl and to the end he could melt her heart.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Lewis “Jack” Baldwin and Maxine Rogers Baldwin. He is survived by his wife, Johanna Morgan Baldwin, daughters Celeste Baldwin and Lisa Baldwin Quinn (Jarod), and grandchildren Caden Quinn (Lauryn), Brady Quinn, Caroline Quinn and Blake Quinn. Brother Clyde Baldwin (Mary Emily) and a host of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 19, 2024, 2:00 pm at St Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA and the visitation will begin at 1:00 pm at the church. Interment will be at a later date.
