Rodney Jack Strain, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2007.
Beloved husband of Linda Moran Strain for the past 47 years; father of Sue Strain Mathies and her husband Cline and Sheriff Rodney “Jack” Strain, Jr. and his wife Lisa; grandfather to Jonathan Mathies, Kelly Mathies, Emily Mathies, Rhett Strain and Rachel Strain; brother to Charles “Butch” Strain, Jr. and his wife Carolyn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first grandson, Rodney Strain, III; his mother, Hilda Marange Strain; and his father Charles Julius Strain, Sr.
Age 65 years, Jack was a 5th generation native and lifelong resident of Abita Springs, LA. A 3rd generation cattleman, he owned and operated with his brother Butch, Strain Cattle Company in St. Tammany and Plaquemine Parishes. He was also a retired member of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the National Cattleman’s Association and the Louisiana Cattleman’s Association.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to Celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Jane de Chantel Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St., Abita Springs, LA 70420.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433; and AT THE CHURCH on Monday from 9:00 AM on until service time.
Interment will follow Mass in Strain Family Cemetery.
