Robert Wymer's Obituary
Robert Floyd Wymer, Jr., a lifelong resident of St. Tammany Parish and a native of the Covington area.
He worked hard to build a strong and loving family and home for 79 years. He was a former Merchant Marine and a 20 year owner of Wymer’s Grocery Store and Bar on Lee Road in Covington. A member of the American Legion Post 16, a licensed electrician and a multiple decade professional plasterer. He passed away on November 6, 2006 due to complications of lung cancer at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
Mr. Wymer is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Emelie LeBlanc Wymer and his three daughters, Patricia Holden, Betsey Bourque and Robin Eastman; his three sons, Julius Holden, Terry Bourque, Sr., and Frederick Eastman, Sr., his eight grandchildren, Wayne Holden, Tori H. Bauer, Charmaine Holden, Terry Bourque, Jr., Robert “Bobby” Bourque, Christopher Bourque, Nique Bourque, and F.J. Eastman; his three granddaughter-in-laws, Carolynn M. Bourque, Melissa G. Bourque, and LeAnn P. Bourque; his one grandson-in-law Rodney Bauer; his nine great grandchildren, Robbie and Daniel Holden, Hunter and Isaiah Bauer, Jeremy Bourque, Landon Bourque, Remington Bourque, Gauge Bourque and Dalton Bourque; he is the son of the late Robert Floyd Wymer, Sr. and Julia Catherine Burgbacher Wymer; siblings, Martha W. Calamia, Myra W. Galloway and the late Susan Lasseigne; and brother-in-law Hubert Galloway and the late Johnny Calamia and Leon Lasseigne.
Mr. Robert leaves behind a vivid legacy of strength, hard work, intelligence, loyalty, perseverance and an unending love to his family and all the lives he has touched. He is deeply loved in return and his memory will continue to strengthen and enrich the lives and minds of his family and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, November 9, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at New Zion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 17387 New Zion Baptist Church Road, Covington, LA 70435. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association of LA, 2325 Severn Ave., Ste. 8, Metairie, LA 70001-6918. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st.
