Robert George Williamson's Obituary
Robert George Williamson, age 73, passed away March 3, 2010.
Beloved husband of 52 years to Pat Geoghegan Williamson, father of Robert Mike Williamson (Shar), Julianne Chappuis (James), and Linda Kieffer (David). Grandfather of Travis (Amanda), Allison, Kelsey and Jessica Chappuis, Tyler, Joseph, and Caroline Kieffer, and great-grandfather of Michelle Chappuis. He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Eva K. Williamson, and his brother, John Williamson Jr. Other surviving family members include sister Eva Mae Jones (Tom), sister-in-law Margaret Williamson, brother-in-law Roy Pepper Geoghegan (Barbara) and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Bob was a native New Orleanian and resident of Mandeville for the past 32 years. He graduated from Fortier high school in 1954 and Tulane University with a B.S. in Geology. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, the New Orleans Geological Society, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He was a loyal supporter of Tulane football and baseball, as well as a proud Saints fan who attended the first home game in Tulane stadium and lived to see them fulfill their dream. A lifelong geologist, he enjoyed rock hunting, traveling, sailing, running, and spending time with his extended family and many close friends. The family would like to express appreciation to the congregation of St. Timothy UMC, Kathleen Montgomery and other devoted caregivers, and the staff of Lakeshore Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Dr. in Mandeville. Visitation will on Saturday, March 6, 2010 beginning at 9:30 with the service at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
