Robert Frank Spitzmiller, Jr.'s Obituary
Robert F. Spitzmilller Jr. passed away on November 6, 2006 at his home in Mandeville, La.
He was 70 years old. He was born in Buffalo, New York where he graduated from Nichols High School. He then attended Trinity College in Connecticut. Mr. Spitzmiller was a bank loan officer for 40 years, beginning at M and T Bank in Buffalo and retiring from Regions Bank in 2001.
A man of wit and humor, he is survived by his wife, Beverly Toebben Spitzmiller, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kelley Spitzmiller of Wharton, Texas, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Spitzmiller Schultz and Hans Schultz of Eugene, Oregon, sons Christopher Spitzmiller of New York City and Cameron Spitzmiller of Burlington, Vermont and four grandchildren. Also, surviving him is a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Bonnie Spitzmiller of Vero Beach, Florida and a sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Michael Vincent of Buffalo; and his faithful sitter Dishika Dillon.
Robert was a member of Mandeville Rotary Club, Pontchartrain Yacht Club, and participated in the mentoring program at Madisonville Elementary. Hobbies included gardening, sailing, and walking his dog “Susie” on the lakefront. He also started the Mandeville Lakefront 4th of July Fireworks Display in l986.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 11, 2006 from noon to 1 PM at St. Timothy United Methodist Church 335 Asbury Dr., in Mandeville with a memorial service at 1 PM. Following the service, there will be additional visitation at Pontchartrain Yacht Club from 2:30 to 5:30 PM. Memorial donations may be made to The HOST for Hospice or the Mandeville Rotary Scholarship Fund.
