I first met Bob at a Friday breakfast meeting of CBMC, Christian Business Men's Connection. For a reason I now can't recall, Bob needed a ride home. I offered to take him home and from that beginning we became fast friends. Since that time we shared many Friday morning CBMC breakfasts, prayers, surgery events and family celebrations. I will remember Bob for his loyalty as a friend, his love for his family, a love of politics and his radio contributions as "Cherokee Bob", but more importantly, for the common bond we had as brothers in Christ. A bout two months ago at about 9:00 A.M., after a CBMC breakfast meeting, I stopped by to see Bob. He asked me what we covered in the meeting and I told him the book of John chapter 10. He immediately asked me to read the chapter to him. He then proceeded to tell me that this is the legacy I want to leave my children and my grandchildren, the message of a secure eternal future through faith in Jesus Christ. The scriptures say, "prefer to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord" and I know my friend knew the Good Shepherd referred to in John 10 and that Jesus called Bob by name when his time had come to leave this earth because Bob's name was written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
His brother in Christ,
