Robert "Bob" Mayo's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Mayo, age 70, died on June 27, 2018 at his home in Covington, LA.
He was born in New Orleans, LA on February 16, 1948 to Mildred and Carl Mayo and was the youngest of four children. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17, proudly serving his country during four years active duty and two years reserve, including two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for wounds received while bringing out other wounded U.S. Marines. In 1971, he married the love of his life April Arceneaux and together they had two children. Robert had a 30-year career in telecommunications, working at Western Electric Technologies, GSA and USCG. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Barbara Lewis and Carl “Gene” Mayo. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 46 years; his two children, Carl Mayo (Lindsay) and Mary Mayo; his granddaughter Madalyn Mayo; his sister Joyce Mayo; his brother-in-law Elgin “Bubba” Arceneaux (Leslie); close family Ava and Perry Percle and numerous relatives, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 20370 Smith Rd., Covington, LA 70435 on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation at church on Monday beginning at 9:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Robert Mayo to be made to the Disabled American Veterans, www.dav.org .
