Robert Allen Lloyd's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Allen Lloyd passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the age of 74. He grew up in Oneida, New York.
Beloved husband of Janice Baker Lloyd and by first marriage to the late Florimel W. Lloyd. Loving father of Jim Lloyd (wife, Heidi) of Lafayette, LA and Roger Lloyd (wife, Ursula) of Gainesville, FL. Step-father of William Armstrong of Houston, TX and Angel Ruffcorn of San Francisco, CA. Brother of James Lloyd (Dorothy) and Suzanne Durland (Don). Also survived by six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Harry Austin Lloyd and Ann Lynch Lloyd.
He was a graduate of Michigan Tech with a major in geologic engineering and a graduate of the University of Tulsa with a masters in Geology. He worked as a geologist for 37 years with Texaco in Wichita, KS, Oklahoma City, OK, Lafayette, LA, Harvey, LA and finally in New Orleans. He was an Eagle Scout, a volunteer at Jean Lafitte Park, past president and coach at the all volunteer Plantation Athletic Club (PAC) in Algiers. He loved fishing, hiking, camping, photography, attending LSU and Saints football games and spending time with his grandchildren.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the graveside service in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery, 5200 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM.
