Robert Lavel "Buddy" Knight Sr.'s Obituary
Robert “Buddy” L. Knight, Sr. was called home to his eternal reward on Thursday, February 15, 2024.
Born on December 17, 1940 Buddy was a beloved Husband, Father, Brother, and “Uncle” to many. He is survived by his wife of 63 years 1 month and 29 days, Tillie Elois Knight; his son Robert L Knight, Jr. (spouse Shannon); daughter Delores Diane Knight; and grandson Robert L. Knight, III. He also leaves behind three sisters: Alice “Tiny” Parish, Vergie Toney, and Mary “Susie” Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents JD Knight and Doris “Dottie” Tisdale Knight; brothers Leonard Knight, Richard Knight, and August Knight.
He was very proud to have served his country in the Army National Guard and carried those memories close to his heart.
Buddy’s love for his God, Family and Church was evident in every aspect of his life.
By trade he was a skilled plumber; however, his true passion was woodworking. Many friends and family members have been blessed with creations he designed specifically for them. Whether it was furniture, bookcases, baby cradles, or toys each one was crafted with love. Some of his most treasured pieces were the ones made in service to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, including the beautiful cross that hangs in the sanctuary of his church, Shepherds Care Ministries, or the hundreds of toy cars and trucks given to boys and girls in the neighborhood and sent worldwide in missions boxes to children in foreign countries.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Vital Caring Hospice and the 3rd Floor Nurses at St Tammany Parish Hospital for their excellent care. We would also like to thank Leonard & Ellen Knight, Penny Crouch, Nikki Caminita, and Tiny Parish for their help in caring for our Husband, Father, and Grandfather in these last few days. Your love and support have helped to sustain us in our time of need.
