Robert James Hanrahan's Obituary
Robert James Hanrahan, age 78, of Abita Springs and formerly of Madisonville, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. He was born on October 10, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Barbara Garza Hanrahan; parents, John and Esther Hanrahan; sister, Jacqueline Hemelt; and a brother-in-law, John C. Garza, Jr..
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Marie Hanna (Stephen) and Brenda Ann Lanaux (Mike); grandsons, Michael Lanaux, Nathan Lanaux, Matthew Hanna, and Andrew Hanna; granddaughter, Kathryn Hanna; sisters, Barbara Pitre, and Edith Dufrechou; brother-in-law, Anthony P. Garza; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Mr. Hanrahan was a graduate of Holy Cross High School and Southeastern Louisiana University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing. He proudly worked for many years as a salesman for Morton Salt Company and was an active volunteer with both the YMCA and LOPA. He also served honorably as a soldier in the United States Army for 38 years, ultimately achieving the rank of Master Sargeant and later continuing his service to the Army as an instructor. Mr. Hanrahan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
