Robert Joseph Duplessis' Obituary
Robert Joseph “Bobby” Duplessis passed away quietly on July 23 at age 70 after a lengthy battle with Myelofibrosis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Joachim Duplessis originally of New Orleans and Agnes Kloster Duplessis formerly of Omro, Wisconsin and later of Abita Springs, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Olivia Paul Duplessis; daughter Lauren Duplessis of Houston, Texas; daughter Leah Duplessis and her partner, Dan Collins of Covington; one brother, Leonard “Lenny” Duplessis and his wife Cyndy of Mandeville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by Oreo and Birdie, the two cats he never wanted but loved dearly.
Born in New Orleans, Bobby grew up in Gentilly, attending St. Leo the Great and graduating from Cor Jesu High School in 1966. He earned a degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Business and worked in the truck leasing business, retiring in 2005. He married Olivia Paul Duplessis in 1983 and moved to Mandeville. In 2014, he and Olivia moved to the quiet village of Terra Bella in Covington.
Bobby worked part-time for several years during his “retirement” as a driver with Enterprise Car Rentals where he enjoyed the friendship of so many co-workers.
Bobby was a musicologist and an avid collector of recordings from all genres of music with his favorite being Jazz. His favorite place for decades has been the Mandeville Lakefront and holidays with Olivia’s family in Monterey, Louisiana. He brought smiles to everyone who knew him and always knew how to have a good time.
The family extends special thanks to all the medical staff at Ochsner Clinic, Ochsner Home Health, St. Tammany Parish Hospital, and Passages Hospice.
A celebration of Bobby’s life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Patient Access Network (panfoundation.org), an organization that assists individuals with costly medications. Please Share a Memory on the Tribute Wall at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
