Robert "Bob" Wayne Bilbruck's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Wayne Bilbruck, 81 of Mandeville, Louisiana passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Clinton and Ida Mae (Ambrose) Bilbruck, brother Gary Bilbruck of Palmyra, Illinois, and brother-in-law Russ Bill of Godfrey, Illinois.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Betsy Lea nee Cherry; his daughter Deborah “Debbie,” her husband Paul Zepernick and three grandchildren Nicholas, Kelsey and Marissa of Australia. He also is survived by his beloved sister Betty Ann Bill of Godfrey, Illinois, niece Kathy (Mrs. Drew) Stevenson and their daughters Juliana and Natalie of Alton, Illinois.
Bob was born in Alton, Illinois on August 22, 1942. He graduated from Northwestern High School in Palmyra, Illinois, where he played basketball, football, and track, while helping his parents on the family farm. After high school, he attended Eastern Illinois University graduating with a Batchelor of Science in Business/Accounting.
After college, Bob started his career in public accounting and worked for several big accounting firms in St. Louis, Oklahoma City, and New Orleans. He and his family moved to Metairie in 1976 where he remained until Hurricane Katrina in 2005, after which he relocated to Covington, LA (the North Shore). He enjoyed golf and was an avid sports fan. Bob made many friends in the New Orleans area and he was highly regarded by his friends and family for his heart of gold, generosity, and passion for helping others. He was an active member at Word of Faith (Faith Church) and LifeGate Church in Metairie, LA. He was formerly a member of Metairie Country Club, Beau Chene Country Club, and served on the board of the New Orleans Mission (for homeless).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service at Lakeshore Church, 15261 Brewster Road, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, February 3, 2024. There will be a visitation starting at 10:00 am with the service commencing at 11:00 followed by refreshments after the service.
