Rita Pounds Jacobs' Obituary
Mrs. Rita Pounds Jacobs of Covington, Louisiana, died peacefully at the age of 73 on May 12, 2018 in Mandeville, LA. She was born August 9, 1944 in Tylertown, Mississippi.
Mrs. Jacobs is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Edward Joseph Jacobs; her mother Bessie Pounds Evans; her brother John Michael Pounds; her daughter, Ann Jacobs Holloway (Trip); her son Edward Sean Jacobs (Kelley); her son Patrick Hershel Jacobs (Stephanie); eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father Hershel Barney Pounds, and brother, Charles Robert Pounds (Lorraine).
Mrs. Jacobs earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master's degree in ESL from Tulane University. She was a retired teacher, pianist, church choir member and volunteer who touched countless lives with her enthusiasm and compassion. She also recently achieved her lifelong dream of publishing her book “Humans and Other Strange Creatures”. Mrs. Jacobs was a member of First Baptist Church in Covington, Louisiana for over 40 years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 12:00 pm, at First Baptist Church Covington, 16333 Louisiana Highway 1085, Covington, LA 70433.
