Drake Riley Massey's Obituary
Drake Riley Massey (11 yrs old) passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at New Orleans Children’s Hospital after the efforts of donating his heart, kidneys, liver and pancreas which saved four other precious lives. On Friday, Oct 5th, after seeing his doctor for a follow-on appointment, Drake unexpectedly went into anaphylactic shock at home with his entire family present after being exposed to an unknown allergen in a bag of veggie chips that he was eating. All efforts to include Benadryl, emergency inhaler, Epi-Pen , CPR, and an immediate 911 EMS call failed to stop the anaphylactic shock which rendered him unconscious within a few minutes in which his breathing and heart stopped. In addition to asthma, Drake had a minor nut allergy that did not affect him much before when exposed, other than an itchy tongue that he took Benadryl for it.
Despite having asthma, Drake was very active at school and at home and enjoyed band, karate, paint ball, his pets and having a good time laughing and joking with his friends and family.
The beloved son of Colonel George A. Massey USMC and Carol Ana Galeano-Massey, he is survived by his sister, London Megan Massey (8 yrs old); two brothers, Kevin G. (14 yrs old) and Dracen S.
