Ridgely Thomas Finley, III's Obituary
Ridgely Thomas Finley, III died on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at home in Folsom, LA. He was 68 years old. He was born in New Orleans to the late Elinor Gilmore O’Reilly Finley and Ridgely Thomas Finley, Jr. and was a resident of Folsom for the past 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol Corbin Collins Finley; his children: Miriam Ogden Finley of New Orleans, Elinor O’Reilly Finley Dorsey and her husband, Dan Richard Dorsey of Covington, Ridgely Thomas Finley, IV, Matthews Cook Finley, Charlotte Walmsley Finley Viguerie and her husband Pierre Michel Viguerie, Jr., David Wardlaw Moore, III and his wife Amelia Day Moore, all of New Orleans. He is survived by five grandchildren: Edward Spencer Dorsey, Elinor O’Reilly Dorsey, Ridgely Matthews Dorsey, Pierre Michel Viguerie, III and Mary Elizabeth Moore. He is also survived by one sister, Elinor Devereux Finley King of Breckenridge, CO, and her children, Lisa Devereux Leach Goad and Thomas Howard Leach, III; two brothers-in-law, H. Holland Collins, Jr. and Carl H. Collins and his wife Bonnie and their children, Mark and Dotte.
Mr. Finley graduated from De La Salle High School and attended Tulane University, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was self-employed as a manufacturer’s representative. He was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Folsom. He was an avid Tulane Baseball supporter, Dixieland Jazz enthusiast; he loved his family, friends, his property in Folsom known as “Finley Place” and his dogs (always boxers).
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 12:00 Noon from St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 11345 St. John's Church Rd., Folsom, LA 70437.
Visitation will begin t 11:00 AM.
Interment will be private at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian, MS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tulane Baseball Program or to the John J. Hainkel, Jr. Scholarship at De La Salle High School.
