My Daddy, Roger Ward , flew with Captain Richard “Sky Daddy “ Warner. His wife and my mom, Pat Ward, would fly with their spouses to fun layovers and made many memories. I will miss talking to him and I know my Daddy will as well. One time I was non reving back to Louisiana and I saw he was the captain on the flight. I told the flight attendant I would like to kiss the captain! She looked at me funny and let me into the cockpit. I announced I would like to kiss the captain and of course the entire flight crew turned to look at me! He flashed one of his big smiles and hugged me.
He was a great man and a faithful friend to my Daddy when dementia took over my Dad’s mind. But he always looked forward to Richard’s phone calls. He will be loved and missed by the Ward family.

Captain Richard Warner was absolutely my favorite pilot when I was a Delta flight attendant in the mid ‘60s. Always a perfect gentleman with a great sense of humor.
Definitely a honorable man. I’ll always remember him.
I have wonderful memories of Richard when I first started flying on the DC9, Detroit turnaround. Richard was always a gentleman, looked after his crew and had a great sense of humor. It was always a joy to fly with him and he will be deeply missed. My sincere condolences and prayers to Richard's Family.
Becky and family,
We are so sorry to hear about your dad. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and may God bless.

I flew as copilot with Richard and appreciated his mentorship in Leadership and Safety in what being in Command was all about, with all the associated Trust and Professionalism he exemplified.
I have the best memories of flying with Richard as his copilot on the DC9. He was an extremely talented pilot, and I learned a lot flying with him. I remember laughing a lot!
By flying with excellent Captains like Richard, I learned many valuable ways of dealing with passengers, weather, and the art of layovers.
He was one of the guys I loved to fly with! He will be missed!
RIP old friend!
