Richard Paul Guilbeau's Obituary
Richard Paul Guilbeau, at the age of 84, entered eternal rest peacefully on Saturday evening, July 22, 2023, at Canon Hospice of Covington, surrounded by his loving family and comforted by his loving wife. He was born in Plaucheville, Louisiana on May 5, 1939 to Byron Paul Guilbeau and Murdis Dufour Guilbeau.
He is survived by his devoted wife Romaine Plauche Guilbeau of 65 years, his adoring children Monica Guilbeau Davis (Danny), Alan Guilbeau, Sr. (Kelly), and Derek Guilbeau (Alicia). Richard was the proud grandfather of seven: Erin Davis, Danny Davis Jr. (Brittany), Leighann Guilbeau, Michelle Davis Van Horn (Richard), Alan Guilbeau Jr. (Alana), Michael Guilbeau (Hailey), Kaitlyn Guilbeau. He was a great-grandfather to thirteen: Carleigh Wright, Corinne Wright, Averie Guilbeau, Jace Davis, Allison Etheridge, Brendon Van Horn, Dax Davis, Davis Wright, James Coffin, Alivia Guilbeau, Jaxon Coffin, Greer Van Horn and Bode Davis. Also survived by former daughter-in-law, Mary Guilbeau. Richard will be dearly missed by a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Byron and Murdis Guilbeau and his brother Gerald Guilbeau.
A native of Plaucheville, and proud resident of Folsom for over 42 years, Richard graduated from Plaucheville High School, in 1957. He began professional career in 1958 in the transportation industry as an outstanding truck driver. Richard worked many sales positions at Jack’s Cookies, Champaign Beverage, Silver Eagle and SE Grocers. He was well liked and respected by colleagues. He was devoted and dedicated to his Catholic faith, and active member to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Folsom for 42 years.
Richard was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time watching the Saints and LSU sports, camping and gardening. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends. Richard was unique and irreplaceable, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His jovial spirit, tender nature, and his denim overalls will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Catholic Funeral Mass, at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM with visitation at 9:00 AM until Rosary and Words of Remembrance at 10:30 AM, until mass time. Interment will immediately follow services and take place in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
