Renee Michelle Thomason Gutierrez's Obituary
Renee Michelle Thomason Gutierrez of Mandeville, LA passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018. She was born on April 11, 1968 in Aurora, CO to Charles Gregory Thomason and Kathleen Mary Youngwirth Thomason.
Renee is survived by her beloved husband, Jason Paul Gutierrez and her son Nathan Gutierrez. She is also survived by her parents Butch and Kathy; her brother Capt. Charlie Thomason and his wife Lexie Thomason; her mother-in-law Sharon Gutierrez; her brother-in-law Jeff Gutierrez, and his wife Stefanie Gutierrez; her nieces Grace Thomason, Ella Thomason, Melanie Gutierrez Butler (Chris), Tiffany Gutierrez; and her nephew Jeffery Gutierrez.
Renee graduated from Andrew Jackson High School prior to receiving her Master’s Degree from University of New Orleans in Special Education. Before relocating to the North Shore following Hurricane Katrina, Renee taught at Chalmette Middle School in St. Bernard Parish. After settling in Mandeville, Renee taught at Madisonville Junior High and Lancaster Elementary. She was a member of You Night Sisterhood and participated with Compassion that Compels.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Carinder and the staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center; the staff at M.D. Anderson; the staff at St. Tammany Parish Hospital; the staff with St. Tammany Parish Hospital Hospice, especially Rachel Barbay and Ada Marion; and Suites of Hope in Houston, TX.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow Mass in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA.
