Reginald Joseph Fielding's Obituary
Covington native Reginald “Reggie” Joseph Fielding unexpectedly passed at his home on December 21st, 2020. Reggie leaves behind the three loves of his life, his wife Amy Orcutt Fielding and daughters Margaret “Macee” Cecelia Fielding and Elinor “Elie” James Fielding. Born Friday, November 19th, 1971, Reggie was the beloved son of Edward “Eddie” J. Fielding, III and Rebecca “Becky” Beall Fielding and the brother of Robert “Robby” Edward and Benjamin “Benjie” Beall (Annette). Nephew of Kathy Fielding Panter Smith, Pam Fielding Voelkel (Norman), Terri Fielding Murphy (Donald), Patti Fielding Nicaud (Guido), and Donald Beall. He is the son-in-law of Allen and Jean Orcutt and loving uncle of Emily, Caroline and Brooke Fielding.
Reggie was a person with many interests, natural gifts, and eclectic talents. Wood working and sculpting metal became a favorite pastime along with creating hand-carved wooden spoons, which are proudly displayed at his home. Always up for a challenge, Reggie took Amy’s Pinterest visions to a whole new level building intricate decorations and crafts especially for the apples of his eye, Macee and Elie. Reggie loved nature and embraced the culture and beauty of South Louisiana. He could be found exploring, fishing, riding horses, gardening, building or creating art, and reminiscing over the treasures he held dear. Reggie had a wonderful sense of humor, loved telling a long-winded Boudreaux joke, and would often be sporting a driving cap by day and a headlamp by night.
For over 20 years, Reggie shared his genuine compassion and love for others through serving families during their darkest times as a funeral director, often going above and beyond to help ease their grief and pain. He served others with kindness and without judgment. Reggie’s heart was as big as his smile, and he gave both away easily to those he knew even briefly, but especially to those he loved.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
