Regina Simmons Dillon's Obituary
Regina Simmons Dillon, age 93, of Covington passed away peacefully Monday evening, May 24, 2021 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was born on September 15, 1927 in Savannah, Georgia to Reginald Simmons and Geraldine Culler Simmons, the family later moving to Covington where she and her brother were raised.
She is sadly missed by her children, Gerard M. Dillon Jr. (Kathy) of Covington and Regina D. Magill (Charles) of Little Rock, Arkansas; her adoring grandchildren Isabelle Rose Dillon and Gerard M. Dillon III, and her brother Reginald (Skeets) Simmons La Mesa, TX. She also leaves behind a host of friends at the Avanti Senior Living facility.
Regina is preceded in death by her husband Gerard Mitchell Dillon Sr., her parents Reginald and Geraldine Simmons.
Following graduation from William and Mary College, Regina returned to New Orleans to embark on a career in fashion. Shortly thereafter, however, she met “Big Jerry” after which her highest priorities were being a loving wife and devoted mother. Once the children became independent, she was co-owner and operator of Circa Antiques. Regina was a member the St. Paul’s Church Altar Guild as well as a member of both the New Orleans and Beau Chene Country Clubs.
With children grown and gone, Regina and her husband traveled the world, in between playing golf and spending summers in Colorado. Although Friday dinner and Saturday lunch were religiously spent in their favorite restaurants, Regina was a marvelous cook. She loved her “three fingers” of Chablis, and adored the color pink. She was truly a Southern Lady and a pip.
We give a special ‘thank you’ to the staff and residents of the Avanti Senior Living facility in Covington for making her final years so happy as well as the doctors and nurses who attended her during her final stay at the St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
