Rebecca June Kennedy's Obituary
Rebecca June Kennedy, 68, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025. Born July 17, 1957, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, June spent her childhood in Franklinton, Louisiana, graduating from Franklinton High School in 1974. June lived a life marked by creativity, compassion and an unwavering love for all people.
June graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, with a BA in Social Work, beginning her career at Belle Chase State School. While she found fulfillment serving her community as a social worker, June ultimately discovered her true passion in interior decorating. Her natural eye for design and ability to make space feel like home brought joy not only to her clients but to everyone who stepped into her presence.
June’s journey through life was not without hardship. She faced many struggles but never let them define her. She was deeply kind, endlessly compassionate, and fiercely creative. Her warmth, resilience, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help others, especially the youth. Through her kindness, guidance, and generosity, she touched countless lives and gave hope and encouragement to those who needed it most.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ron Legere; her cherished sons, Brendan Patrick Ross and Colin Kennedy Ross; and her parents, Ray and Katherine Kennedy, with whom she is reunited in everlasting life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
June is survived by her brother, Barry Kennedy; her sister, Janis Kennedy Lewis; her stepchildren, Amy Legere Nagle (Aaron), Jeffrey Legere, and Michael Legere (Jen); her Legere grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and were touched by her vibrant spirit.
A celebration of June’s life - “Junebug," as so many family and friends lovingly called her - will be announced at a later date. Family and friends will be invited to gather and remember the joy, strength and creativity she brought into the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor June’s memory by performing an act of kindness or expressing your creativity-just as she did, even in the face of life’s greatest challenges. She will hold a special place in our hearts and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
