Raymond L. Slade's Obituary
Raymond L. Slade passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021, at his home in Baton Rouge at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 5, 1941, in Bush, Louisiana.
Raymond was the loving father of Lisa Montaggioni (Carlos) and the devoted grandfather to Quirino Montaggioni. He is also survived by his sisters, Lisa Cooper (Larry) and Lynn Buie; his brothers, Clyde Slade (Nell), Claudie Slade, and Jan Lang (Vickie); his sister-in-law, Jean Slade Pierce; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marsha Lavinghouse Slade; his parents, Artie and Beulah Slade, and Irma Lang; his sisters, Myrtle Keiffer and Estelle Beahl; and his brother, Densil Slade.
Raymond was the Comptroller at Salsbury Dodge Dealership of Baton Rouge, formerly Gentilly Dodge of New Orleans, for 50 years. He enjoyed being a member of the Mardi Gras Krewe of Caesar in Metairie. Some of his favorite pastimes were photography, boating on the local lakes and rivers, and attending NASCAR races around the country with his friend, the late Ross Liles.
The family would like to thank friends and neighbors for all of their love and support during this difficult time, with a special thank you to caregiver Cynthia Davis.
Due to Covid 19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433, on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., with visitation on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
