Raymond Ruiz Salas' Obituary
Our loving father has gone to be with the Lord. Sunrise 01/23/26 - Sunset 10/28/08. Raymond Ruiz Salas, Sr. was born in San Antonio, TX. Ray grew up in Corpus Christi, TX. Ray served in WWII. He was an Optometrist and avid golfer. Ray lived in Harlingen, TX for 10 years, moved to New Orleans, LA for 30 years, and lived in Dickinson, TX for the last 5 years. Our dad was always helping others. He loved spending his time outdoors listening to and feeding the birds.
Preceded in death by his mother, Anastacia Ruiz Resendez; his father, John Salas; his brothers, Pete and Arsenio Resendez; his sister, Emma Lybarger; his son, Robert Salas; and his grandson, Lance Salas.
Ray was survived by, Mary Villarreal Salas, the mother of his children, Yolanda Silva (Cande), Raymond Salas, Jr. (Belinda), Richard Salas (Marcy), Sylvia Rodriguez, Elizabeth “Libby” Moreno, Mary Ellen DiMarco, Sandra Nance, and Karen Savage (Mike). His legacy includes 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Our Father, Daddy, Pops, Poppie, Paw-Paw, Viejo, Mr. Ray, as he was referred to by many, will be sadly missed. Until we meet again, may we smell you in the wind and see your joyful face when we hear the birds singing.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448. We are gathering at the church at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Beaumont Regional Office of Alzheimer’s Assoc, 700 North Street, Suite M, Beaumont, TX 77001. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
