Raymond A. Legendre's Obituary
Raymond Legendre died at his home in Covington, Louisiana. He was 88 years old.
He is survived by his wife Marie McGuffee and three daughters Leslie, Laurie and Loren Legendre, two grandchildren Leslie Anne Richie Babin and David K. Richie and two great grandchildren Ziley and Zander Babin, survive him. Baby Zain Babin deceased.
He was the son of Oneal C. Legendre and Blanche Tircuit.
Raymond was the last survivor of six children Mary Alice L. Dicharry, Therese L. Nicholson, Oneal C. Legendre, Jr., Virgil L. Thomas and Maurice Legendre.
A native of New Orleans, he attended St.Stephen Parish Catholic School and graduated from St. Aloysius High School. He studied music at Loyola, served in the U.S. Air Force and attended LSU.
He moved to the North shore in l967 as a Ford dealer and opened Legendre Ford.
He was a member of the Louisiana and National Automobile Associations, Rotary Club and enthusiastically supported Ford’s Punt, Pass and Kick competition with great success. He received Dealer of the Year Award and contributed to the Ford Times magazine with recognition of his good friend, Chef Rene Nicholas. He proudly supported the girls and boys baseball teams as a team Sponsor. As a member of the original board, he served as a member of the St. Tammany Parish Water Works District #3 for over 30 years.
Because of the importance of music in his life, Raymond was proud to be one of the early founding members of what has become the outstanding choir of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. He also sang with the St. Michael’s Episcopal choir. He will be remembered for his years of singing with the Northshore Performing Arts Society and the Pro Musica group.
Music has always been a part of Raymond’s life. He cherished memories of his grandfather playing the violin accompanied by his mother at the piano and everyone singing. May we all remember Raymond that way – singing happily.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the funeral mass on October 13, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake, 312 Lafitte Street Mandeville, LA 70448, visitation at 9am, mass at 10am.
