Raymond Walter Hickey's Obituary
Raymond Walter Hickey passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 in Mandeville, LA. He was born on February 1, 1923 to the late Viola Windmann and Eugene Blenk Hickey in New Orleans, LA and was the step-son of the late Thelma Sullivan Hickey.
The beloved husband of Elizabeth Roberts Hickey for 67 years, he is survived by five children - Elizabeth H. Dufour (David), Raymond E. Hickey (Vickie), David T. Hickey (Lisa), Eileen H. Gulotta (Grant) and Bryan J. Hickey; eight grandchildren - Joseph Gulotta (Lane), Jennifer Gulotta, Emily Gulotta, Ryan Hickey, Jordan Hickey, Scott Hickey, Kristina Hickey and Mark Taranto (Maria) and two great grandchildren - Harrison Gulotta and Elizabeth Gulotta. He is also survived by one sister-in-law - Elba R. Hickey.
He was preceded in death by his brother - Eugene John Hickey and his son - Darryl M. Hickey.
Raymond is retired from the New Orleans Clerks’ & Checkers’ Union Local No., 1497 – I.L.A. – A.F.L. – C.I.O. He was a resident of St. Bernard Parish before relocating to St. Tammany Parish after hurricane Katrina. He was an avid fisherman and sportsman, but most importantly, enjoyed spending time with his family.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Kim Callahan and Rita Penn for the excellent care they provided Raymond during his brief illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, October 31, 2014 beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass.
