Raymond J. Gautreaux, Sr.'s Obituary
Raymond J. Gautreaux, Sr. passed into the Lord’s hands on Friday, November 16, 2007.
He was born June 4, 1919 to the late Dr. Henry E. and Hazel Seawell Gautreaux. He is survived by two sons: Henry E. “Gene” Gautreaux, Raymond J., Jr. and his wife Corrie; one sister, Muriel G. Gallagher; two granddaughters: Renee M. Gautreaux, Rachel G. Wells and her husband Todd; one great-granddaughter, Katelyn A. Wells and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Jane Schech Gautreaux and two brothers: Byron Francis Gautreaux and Henry Eugene Gautreaux, Jr.
A native of Covington, he attended both St. Peter and St. Paul Schools. He was a Veteran of WW II, serving his country in England with the Army Air Force and retired as a Security Officer with the State of Louisiana in New Orleans. Ray was well-known for his love of song. He was willing to sing for any occasion; at church, Christmas carols at the mall or any other opportunity that arose. To sing was his passion and he loved talking football. He was quick to strike up conversation, always friendly, always a gentleman, a loving and devoted father, he was tenacious to the end and will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours will begin at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow Mass at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.
