Raymond William Adam, 84, entered into eternal rest in his sleep, Sunday, March 5, 2006, at 7:00AM. Beloved husband of Abbie Ann Cathcart Adam. Father of William M. Adam, Abbie Ann Maldini and Randy Adam. Father-in-law of Robert Maldini and Vicki Brewster Adam. Grandfather of Cori Cox Nelson, Rebekah Cox, Ashley Adam and Christopher Adam. Grandfather-in-law of Roy C. Nelson. Great Grandfather of Presli C. Nelson, and Benjamin C. Cox. Mr. Adam was born on June 14, 1921 in Aurora IL. He was preceded in death by his father Michael Adam, mother Margaret Hein Adam and brother Robert Adam all of Aurora, IL Mr. Adam attended University of DeKalb before entering the U.S. Navy Submarine service in 1940. He was a plank owner of the U.S.S. Flying Fish and also, the U.S.S. H. W. Gilmore. In 1950 while serving on the U.S.S. Purvis, Chief Adam met his wife Abbie Ann Cathcart Adam. After 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy the Adam family made their home in Madisonville, La. Where he worked at Avondale Industry. He wrote the Engineers Operating Manual for the First LASH ship built at Avondale. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Assoc. Branch 222 for 42 years. Much of his free time was enjoyed outside planting and rooting native plants, along with tending to his seasonal vegetable gardens and fruit trees. He will be missed dearly and loved forever. E. J.
