Ralph Burton Harrison Sr.'s Obituary
Ralph Burton Harrison, Sr. passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the age of 92. He was born and raised in Terry, MS on September 21, 1931.
His parents were William Benton Harrison and Lucy Nila Shack. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James Milton Harrison, Billy W. Harrison,Max E. Harrison and Ted Lane Harrison; and sisters, Pauline H. Williamson, Lurline H. Lewis and Mildred H. Lewis. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Florence Joy Hunt and two children, Ralph Burton Harrison, Jr. (Lynn) and Tamara Joy Lindsay (Mark). He had four grandchildren, Kathryn Lindsay, Jennifer Berniard (Casey), Daniel Lindsay (Katie) and Sarah Worthmann (Johnny). He also enjoyed his eleven great-grandchildren, Noah Bordes, Camryn Bordes, Jacob Berniard, Lindsay Berniard, Nicholas Berniard,Hannah Berniard, Brooke Wortmann, Gray Lindsay, Abby Wortmann, Zoe Lindsay and R.J. Wortmann.
Ralph graduated high school and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He served two years in the Korean War. Upon his return back home, Ralph met his soul mate, Joy, and married her for life. He worked as a truck driver hauling and delivering freight. He retired in 1985 after working 35 years with Teamsters Local 891. He then enjoyed many wonderful years with his wife and family. Ralph should always be remembered for his funny sense of humor and his loving and kind heart.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation on Thursday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Barker McManus Cemetery, 78468 Highway 437 (Lee Road), Covington, LA 70435.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Disabled American Veterans.
